Both agencies offer online and offline application methods. Once you’ve submitted your application, you’ll receive a 15-digit acknowledgment number, which is key to tracking your application status.

Methods to Check PAN Card Status

PAN Card Status can be checked through several methods. All such details are provided below:

Method 1: Check PAN Card Status through Protean e-Gov Technologies Limited Website

The Protean e-Gov Technologies Limited website offers a straightforward method to check your PAN card status. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  • Visit the official website of NSDL
  • On the ‘Track Your PAN/TAN Status’ page, under “Application Type,” select “PAN- New/Change Request“.
  • Now, enter your 15-digit acknowledgment number
  • Enter the verification code displayed on the screen.
  • Then, click on the “Submit” button.

The status of your application will be displayed on the screen. It’s important to note that you can only track your application online 24 hours after submitting it.

Method 2: Check PAN Card Status through UTIITSL Website

If you applied through UTIITSL, you can check your status on their website. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Visit the UTIITSL website

Step 2: In the menu bar, click on the PAN Card Services option. A drop-down menu will open. Here, select the “Track Your PAN Card” option.

Here, you can check your PAN Card Status in two ways:

a)Through Application/Coupon Number

b)Through PAN Card Number

a) Check Your PAN Card Status Through Application/Coupon Number

  • On this page, enter your “Application/Coupon Number” in the designated area.
  • Enter your Date of Birth.
  • Then, enter the Captcha Code.
  • Finally, click on the Submit button.

Your PAN status will then display on your screen.

b) Check Your PAN Card Status Through PAN Number

  • To check your PAN Card status by your PAN Card number, complete Step 2 provided above.
  • Then a new page will display on your screen. Here, enter your PAN Card Number.
  • After that, enter your Date of Birth.
  • Then, enter the Captcha code and hit the Submit button.

Your application status will be displayed on the screen.

Method 3: Check PAN Card Status through Phone Call

A person can also check or track their PAN Card Status through phone call. To check your PAN status via phone call, follow the process provided below:

  • Call 020-27218080 between 7 am and 11 pm, any day of the week
  • Provide your 15-digit acknowledgment number to the call center executive

Note that between 11 pm and 7 am, you can still check your status through an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system.

Method 4: Check PAN Card Status through SMS Facility

A quick and convenient method to check your status is through SMS:

  • Send an SMS to 57575 with the following format: NSDLPAN <15-digit acknowledgment number>
  • You’ll receive a reply with your current application status

To check your PAN (Permanent Account Number) status via SMS, you can utilize a convenient service provided by the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) on behalf of the Income Tax Department.

Simply send an SMS to 3030 with the message format “PAN [space] [15-digit acknowledgement number]” (e.g., PAN 123456789012345). 

Method 5: Check PAN Card Status Without Acknowledgment Number

If you’ve misplaced your acknowledgment number, you can still check your status on the Protean e-Gov Technologies Limited website:

  • Visit the official NSDL website
  • Here, click on the Application type option. Two options will be displayed on your screen. Among them select PAN New/Change Request option.
  • Now, leave the Acknowledgement Number option and click on the radio button in front of the Name option.
  • Then, enter your Last Name/Surname, Middle name and then First Name as asked.
  • Enter your Date of Birth (it should be the same as mentioned on the application form).
  • Finally, enter the ‘Submit” button.

Your PAN card status will then display on your screen.

Method 6: Check PAN Card Status By Name and Date of Birth

Another method to track your application is by using your name and date of birth. Check further details below:

  • Go to the official NSDL website
  • Here, click on the Application type option. Two options will be displayed on your screen, here, PAN New/Change Request option.
  • Then, enter your Last Name/Surname, Middle name and then First Name as asked.
  • Enter your Date of Birth (it should be the same as mentioned on the application form).
  • Then, hit the ‘Submit” button.

Method 7: Check e-PAN Card Status by Aadhaar Number

For those who have applied for an e-PAN using their Aadhaar number, here’s how to check the status:


  • A new page will open. Here, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar Number and click on the Continue button. 


  • On the OTP Validation page, enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile number registered with Aadhaar.
  • Then click on Continue.


  • On the Current status of your e-PAN request page, you can see the status of your e-PAN request.
  • If the new e-PAN has been generated, you can click on View e-PAN to view or Download e-PAN to download a copy of your E-PAN.

Note that to use this method, your mobile number must be registered with your Aadhaar card for OTP verification.

Understanding PAN Card Application Status

When you check your PAN card status, you might encounter different status messages. Here are some common ones and what they mean:

  • “Your PAN application has been received and is under process”: This means your application is currently being reviewed.
  • “Your PAN card has been dispatched”: Your PAN card has been printed and sent via post to the address you provided.
  • “Your PAN application has been rejected”: There might be errors or discrepancies in your application. You’ll need to reapply after correcting the issues.
  • “Your PAN is generated and dispatch of physical PAN card is pending”: Your PAN has been generated but the physical card hasn’t been sent yet.
  • “Not Found”: This could mean your application hasn’t been processed yet or there might be an issue with your acknowledgment number.

Check PAN Card Payment Status Online

Apart from the application status, you can also track the status of your payment if you paid online. Here’s how:

  • Visit
  • On this page, you can check your transaction status either by Transaction Number or by Acknowledgement Number.
  • Select the appropriate option according to you from both options. 
  • Then enter the selected number (either Transaction Number or Acknowledgement Number)  in the next field.
  • Then enter your Name. The format of entering the name is Last Name/Surname, then, First Name, and then Middle Name.
  • Then enter your Date of Birth and click on the Submit button.
  • Your transaction status and details will then display on your screen.

This will display the status of your payment transaction.
